Web-surfing Safety Tips to Share with Children |
Although the Internet is a great learning tool for students, it is important for them to be safe while using it. There is a lot of material on the Internet that is not suited for young children, and it is unfortunate that there are many people online who are looking to take advantage of innocent students. To protect your children when they go online, follow these tips:
Teach them to always ask permission to use the Internet before logging on.
Join children when they're on the Web, so you can enjoy the sites they discover.
Caution them to never give out personal information without permission. This information includes their last name, address, telephone number, and e-mail address.
Caution them to never send photos of themselves, family, or friends unless they get permission from you.
Teach them to be polite when communicating to others online.
Let them know they should tell you right away if something on a Web site upsets them. |
